Bill is a prolific author and frequent presenter on these and other related topics, which BHAA works in on an ongoing basis. Bill has senior-level nonprofit management experience in education non-profits, having been the president of one of the nation’s top K-12 education foundations; functioning as interim CEO for prominent national and state education and philanthropic associations; as well as leading national, regional and state boards of directors.
He provides consulting in K-12 education, with a focus on college and career readiness, standards reform and STEM. His nonprofit and private-sector clients have included the Florida Philanthropic Network, Florida College Access Network, SRI International, National School Foundation Association, National Math and Science Initiative, the Consortium of Education Foundations and many local education foundations.
Bill authors articles and speaks on his topics of national expertise including board development, community and volunteer engagement, organizational development and performance, and best practices in national, regional, and state publications and symposia. His thought-leadership has appeared in GuideStar, the New York Times, Nonprofit World, SEEN Magazine, Opportunity Knocks, the Public Education Network, the Mid-Atlantic Consortium of Education Foundations, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, and the New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership.
He has developed nationally innovative programming for nonprofit executives, including the Certified Education Foundation Leader program for K-12 education foundation executive directors. This program is being delivered by one of the nation’s largest nonprofit universities and rolled-out via the industry’s largest trade association. He is also an Adjunct Professor at National University, teaching Non-profit Leadership and Board Development.
Bill is a long-time board member and former board chair for the National Schools Foundation Association (NSFA) which he has supported since becoming a charter member of the organization. NSFA’s mission is close to his heart and life work – to assist philanthropy and community to get involved in K-12 education.
Bill and his wife have 3 grown sons and wonderful daughters-in-law as well as 6 fabulous grandchildren. He is a SCUBA diver, hiker, carpenter and long time avid distance runner having completed dozens of marathons and ultra-marathons in North America and Europe.
