Donna Alexander is the Director of Oklahoma Local Public School Foundations. Her charge is to continue to help the existing 220 foundations as well as help communities start one for their school district. She hosts a state-wide event each year as well as regional meetings in the state. Donna is known for growing whatever organization she is part of.
Donna is a former high tech executive at IBM, Apple Computer, and HP where she managed education markets in several mid-western states in addition to a large region in Los Angeles. It was working with school that developed her passion for helping teachers and students. Private citizens and companies want to help schools and the school foundations are the perfect entity. “I wanted to be part of the NSFA Board to assist with strategies for growth as well as utilize my marketing background in the education market”
Active in her community, Donna served as president of her community’s foundation for several years as well as fund raising chair. She has led school based research for her district as well as serving the chamber on the education committee. She is a member of PEO and BETA, both service, education and social women organizations. She served as an advisory board member for a program at the University of Oklahoma as well as the Oklahoma County Youth Services. She is a trained CASA volunteer helping families reunite. She was in Kiwanis for many years and has helped with the BUGS and Terrific Kids programs her local elementary school.
She received her BS in math from Oklahoma State University and later a masters from University of Central Oklahoma. She also has a Masters Certificate from Southern Methodist University specializing in Facilitation and Coaching.
