Gail joined the Decatur Education Foundation in 2009 as its first executive director and sole employee. Since then, she has overseen a period of rapid growth and expansion for the Foundation, which now has an annual budget of $660,000, assets of more than one million dollars, and a professional staff of five. As a true community facilitator, Gail works closely with Foundation partners to create collaborations that address the needs of children across the City of Decatur. She has more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector, including program development, strategic partnerships, and resource development. Gail is a Certified Education Foundation Leader and a frequent presenter at industry conferences. In 2016, Gail accepted an Innovation Award on behalf of the Foundation from the Center for Civic Innovation of Atlanta for their work to close the opportunity gap in Decatur.
Gail earned her Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and her Master’s degree in Intercultural Education and Training from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. She is also a 2007 graduate of the Executive Leadership Program for Non-Profit Executives hosted by Emory University and the Georgia State University School of Public Policy.
