Michelle Ginn joined Carlsbad Educational Foundation in February 2015 as Chief Executive Officer. CEF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in 1983 to raise private support for public education and contribute to the enrichment of nearly 11,000 students in the Carlsbad Unified School District.
As CEO, Ginn oversees and provides overall direction for all of CEF’s marketing, public relations and fund-raising efforts. She’s responsible for working with the board of directors to establish and implement the strategic direction of CEF, develop and ensure the quality of earned income programs and ensuring cost-effective management of CEF’s operations. She also serves as chief liaison with external stakeholders, develops effective partnerships throughout the community and engages in active collaboration with the leadership of Carlsbad Unified School District. Under Michelle’s leadership, CEF continues to increase grant funding support of programs for Carlsbad Students and CEF has launched exciting new programs such as CEF Senior Scholarships and the CEF Student Leadership Council.
Michelle graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and almost immediately began her distinguished fifteen-year career with the Fountain Division of Coca-Cola North America where she consistently grew revenue and successfully increased market share in her various roles. Ginn also served as managing Partner for Half Moon Development and most recently as the Business Development Director for Interknowlogy.
Ginn’s extensive ties and deep commitment to the Carlsbad community as an involved parent and educational advocate have evolved during her 20-year residency in Carlsbad. Ginn has served as president of the Carlsbad High Varsity Dance Team Boosters since 2013, and has been involved in various PTA capacities since 2005. Additionally, she is a recognized advocate for education, serving as a member of the CUSD Superintendent Advisory Council, CUSD Legislative Team and CUSD Tech Advisory Council. Ginn also is a member of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation.
More about the Carlsbad Educational Foundation: The Carlsbad Educational Foundation has contributed over $5 million in funds to Carlsbad schools, primarily for science, technology, arts and reading – programs that would not be possible in California’s current school funding environment. The foundation is able to dedicate 100 percent of its donations to education because its operating expenses are covered by student enrichment programs and Kids’ Care, a comprehensive before- and after-school K-5 childcare program.
