Shannon Barnhill serves as the Executive Director of the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that is under the umbrella of the largest school district in the state of New Mexico. The Foundation was established to promote private support of the district and its students and serves 82,000 students and 143 schools. She has been in this role for two years.
She is dedicated to public education and is an advocate for Albuquerque’s students and teachers. It is The Foundation has disbursed over a 2 million into APS schools in 4 years, classrooms and departments. During her time at the Foundation her focus has been on developing planned giving, increase endowed funds, aligning with district needs and expanding the Foundation’s grants program.
Shannon has nearly 30 years of experience in non-profit management. She was an event and business owner for more than 14 years, and has extensive experience working with a variety of diverse groups, volunteer committees, boards of directors, organization staff, sponsors and donors. Her resume includes stints with the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Albuquerque Film Office, the Girl Scouts and Special Olympics. She also is a longtime member of the Junior League of Albuquerque.
She is grateful for the opportunity to connect community partners who have passion for public education and having them experience the impact they have on students and teachers.
