Included will be a brief overview of types of insurance policies and potential liabilities that could impact your organization. Darrell Slabaugh will share some insight to issues faced in a University that had more than 100 policies and expectancies with several million in potential benefits. Using insurance as an adjunct to your annual fund, if properly maintained, can be a productive step toward success in your planned gift efforts. Retirees often have paid-up policies with significant cash values that may be easily gifted assets, if properly transferred.
Some specific issues and suggestions to enhance your gift receiving policies will also be recommended.

Darrell Slabaugh served as chief development officer and vice president of advancement at universities for more than 15 years before joining the McKinney Education Foundation in McKinney Texas. Now retired, he serves as treasurer of the National School Foundation Association and has participated in every National conference of NSFA.
